Intros & Teasers

 It's Tuesday!

Which means it's time for another round of Tuesday Intros and Teaser Tuesday.

To take part in Tuesday Intros simply share the first paragraph of the first chapter of the book you are reading or are going to read. Tuesday Intros is hosted by Bibliophile By The Sea.

To take part in Teaser Tuesday turn to a random page in the book you are reading, and share two teaser sentences from that page, without sharing spoilers. Teaser Tuesday is hosted by Should Be Reading.

Here's mine:

Tuesday Intros

From the moment I decided to kill him, I began to feel relief.

Seriously that is the paragraph - one sentence.

Teaser Tuesday

Jake tensed at the sound of the terrified voice on the phone. The minute he'd seen the Nettleton number, he'd known there was trouble.

This book counts towards my total for the New Authors Challenge 2015 hosted by Literary Escapism.

Random Quote #215

People make mistakes in life through believing too much, but they have a damned dull time if they believe too little.

Random Quote #214

That luminous part of you that exists beyond personality–your soul, if you will–is as bright and shining as any that has ever been....Clear away everything that keeps you separate from this secret luminous place. Believe it exists, come to know it better, nurture it, share its fruits tirelessly.

Here are mine:

Tuesday Intro

In one way, at least, our lives really are like movies. The main cast consists of your family and friends. The supporting cast is made up of neighbors, co-workers, teachers, and daily acquaintances. There are also bit players: the supermarket checkout girl with the pretty smile, the friendly bartender at the local watering hole, the guys you work out with at the gym three days a week. And there are thousands of extras - those people who flow through every life like water through a sieve, seen once and never again. The teenager browsing graphic novels at Barnes & Noble, the one you had to slip past (murmuring 'Excuse me') in order to get to the magazines. The woman in the next lane at the stoplight, taking a moment to freshen her lipstick. The mother wiping ice cream off her toddler's face in a roadside restaurant where you stopped for a quick bite. The vendor who sold you a bag of peanuts at a baseball game.

Teaser Tuesday

He was gone from our lives a week later, and he went alone. Patsy and Morris - dubbed Tag-Along-Morrie by the kids in MYF - were already gone by then.

New Author Challenge 2015

Last week I declared that I am taking part in the Fur and Fangs Reading Challenge.

Well this week I'm announcing that I am taking part in the New Authors Challenge 2015 as hosted by Literary Escapism.

This will be my fourth year taking part in this challenge and I think I will again set my target at 15. I've been hitting just above that number for the last couple of years.

I would try and aim higher but the authors that I'v read before will insist on writing more books. Books I want to read, no less!

Click the link further up this post for more details and to sign up.

Happy reading! :)

Teasers & Intros

It's the first Teaser Tuesday and Tuesday Intros of 2015.

*cue fireworks*

I've been absent the last few Tuesdays, but I always seemed to be either on the same book as the last post I did or on the sort of book that didn't really suit Teaser or Intros.

But anyway to take part in Tuesday Intros all you have to do is post the first paragraph of the first chapter of the book you are reading or are going to read soon.

And for Teaser Tuesday all you have to do is go to a random page in your current read, pick 2 teaser sentences from that page and share them, preferably without creating any spoilers in the process.

Then click the links at the top of the post to go and share your Teaser/Intro and to go and see other people's posts.

So on to my Teaser/Intro for the week.

Now the book I've currently reading is quite sex filled to be honest (even by the author's standards) so I've managed to pick out a less risqué teaser. Luckily the first paragraph isn't too bad, although it is quite long... no pun intended. ;)

Tuesday Intro

Jason Schuyler, one of my best friends and favourite werewolves, stood in the morning sunlight of the kitchen. His yellow hair gleamed in the light, so that his boyishly handsome face was haloed with sunshine, but as I looked into the pure, soft blue of his eyes I knew that devil's horns were more his style than halos, and pure was only a way to describe his eyes, not him. He'd been a precocious teenager and his day job was still assistant manager and exotic dancer at Guilty Pleasures. The body that showed around his tank top and jogging shorts proved that he stayed in shape for his job, but none of that was what made halos seem wrong for him. He had a streak of mischief in him so strong that he couldn't quite resist pushing... everything. If the situation was tense he had to resist not making a wisecrack at the wrong moment; since I had the same urge, it was one of our bonding moments. He and I both tended to poke the proverbial badger with a stick until it rushed out of the hole and tried to eat us. We'd both learned over the years to curb this urge, and were much happier for controlling that part of us, but Jason still had that edge of devilry to the smile on his face, and the shine in those spring-sky eyes.

Do you know how tough it is typing all that out, one handed whilst holding the book open? Well if you are still here then it is on to my teaser.

She gave me a smile that went with the comment, then was through the door before I had a comeback. Just as well, because I didn't have a comeback.

A Reading Challenge With Bite... And Fur

Regular readers may know that I like a good reading challenge (although I only took part in one last year).

But as I have travelled the blogosphere recently I came across one that caught my eye. You might say it's right up my street.

And the title of this blog may give you a hint about what sort of books it concerns.

This year I'm taking part in the 2015 Fur and Fangs Challenge as hosted by Phantasmic Reads and Novel Heartbeat.

All you have to do is read books where one of the main characters is a vampire or werewolf (or any other lycanthrope/shape shifter with fur - hence the challenge title).

At this stage I think I'm just going to leave my target open and just try and read as many as possible.

Click the link above to find out more and how to sign up.

Happy reading! :)
